The peace and calm of Ennerdale and Loweswater lakes are a short scenic car journey away. Further to the south is the valley of Wasdale. The ports of Whitehaven and Maryport are easily reached, as are Cockermouth, Carlisle and Keswick.
There are plenty of local attractions to visit, good pubs and restaurants as well as a variety of takeaways, the cottage contains a comprehensive guide to these.
 
 

Follow A66 from Penrith to North Lakes (Jct.40 M6) to Cockermouth, at roundabout take 1st exit
A5086, approx. 8 miles take 1st left after The Lamplugh Tip pub (white building on right), signposted Lamplugh Green, Loweswater and Buttermere. Just over 1/2 mile take a right turn for Croasdale and Ennerdale Lake, a further 1/2 mile brings you to the hamlet of Felldyke. The cottage is the second on the left.
